Location : Brixton Prison, London.
Commissioned by Bounce Back
The brief was to create murals on the topic of astronomy, inside the Brixton prison across 5 main walls of the visitor centre. I worked in collaboration with fellows of University College of London and the Royal Astronomical Society. The artwork had to be scientifically accurate and illustrate key facts about the universe. No internet, phone or any other technology was allowed on site.
I proposed to create three main sections: one across two walls, representing the sky and the galaxies, one with portraits and quotes from famous astronomers, and one for the children’s play area displaying an interactive solar system.
